 "Crane Berries"
Early settlers thought the cranberry blossom resembled the head a crane, hence, the name "crane berry,"
which was shortened to cranberry. Cranberry blossoms, pretty, delicate pink flowers, come out in late June and early July.
Small, green fruit develops behind the flower, growing and changing from green to white to dark red through the months of
August and September.
The Wisconsin Rapids Area is the largest inland-producing cranberry region in the world.
We produce nearly 30% of the world's cranberries and are home to several processing, juicing and value-added manufacturing
facilities. Our unique agricultural heritage makes Blossom Season a special time in our area and gives us one more reason
to celebrate!

Tour one of the oldest cranberry marshes in Central Wisconsin with an actual grower. History, videos, cranberry
